Long Eaton Reunion
A
great night was held at the Bridge Inn, Sandiacre, when Long Eaton held
their reunion on June 14th.
Organised by former rider Pete Wrathall and pal John Marriott,
the night was a huge success, with more people attending than were first
anticipated.
Riders
who turned out were, Ray Wilson, Norman Hunter, Dave Perks who captained
the “Invaders” to the National League title in 1984.
Other
riders included Graham Plant, Geoff Bouchard, Russ Dent, Joe Hughes,
Roger Mills, Steve Walpington, Gerry Scott, Keith White, Paul Evitts,
Dai Evans, Martin Dixon, John Hart, and Ian Teale.
Also there were John Turner (promoter), Sandra Brown (widow of
promoter Ivor Brown)
and Mike Peregrine(team manager).
The
evening included video footage from yesteryear, memorabilia, plus
interviews with some of the riders and hosted by Chris Carter who was
the master of ceremonies.
Joe
Hughes kindly loaned a 1950’s Rotrax Jap bike for the night.
A
delighted Pete Wrathall said that he was very happy with the way the
reunion went, and thanked the organising committee for all their hard
work. He also thanked all those who attended and traveled long
distances to be there.
It
is hoped to have further reunion’s in the future, possibly on an
annual basis, and especially if they get good weather as it was this
year (the garden and
outside seating were well used), they were most welcome!
