Name Change

At our Annual General Meeting in March 2006 it was agreed that we should change the name of the Association as the word “Veteran” was putting riders off from joining and that the committee would make the final decision after asking members, through the Opposite Lock, for some ideas. These along with suggestions from the committee were considered and the name that came up most times was “WORLD SPEEDWAY RIDERS’ ASSOCIATION” . So after a lengthy discussion the committee agreed to make the change, which will be effective from October 1^st 2006. From that date any payments to the Association for subscriptions or monies for events will have to be made out to the new name.

Our Aims

The WSRA was formed with the objectives at all times being purely social and benevolent, helping former colleagues to keep in touch and to re-live their riding past. The Association is open to all riders who have ridden for at least 10 years, or who have retired irrespective of their length of riding experience, and those who have had their career ended by injury. Former Officials are also eligible for membership with the same criteria. Regular social events are organized, with the Annual Dinner & Dance being the flagship event of the year. Regional events are also held during the year along with two Golf Tournaments, one in the spring and one in the autumn.

The association produce a magazine entitled "Opposite Lock" quarterly which keeps members up to date with what is going on within the WSRA and this is provided for each member free of charge.

Association Profile

The World Speedway Riders' Association has around 600 members, many of these are worldwide and new members are always welcome.
Our Patron is Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, Our President is elected annually and serves a one year term of office. We have an elected committee of seven members and Secretary/Treasurer
